I was born talking back and standing up
to a desperate lady and a man on the gun.

I didn’t ask to be born never did have much
and they took all I had I want avenged for unjust.

I grew up in the streets of the New Orleans slums,
learned to hustle with the freaks and gamble with the bums.

Father never came back and now he never will
He didn’t fight hard enough. what’s after me got him.

So I worked every odd job trying to better mom and me
I’ve come a long way but it’s the same old scene.
